Divine, whose real name was Harris Glenn Milstead, was an iconic Baltimore drag queen and actor. Born on October 19, 1945, Divine rose to fame in the 1970s through collaborations with filmmaker John Waters. Some of their most well-known works together include "Pink Flamingos" (1972), "Female Trouble" (1974), and "Polyester" (1981).
Divine was known for extravagant and outrageous performances, often pushing the boundaries of conventional taste. The drag queen persona of Divine became a symbol of rebellion and counterculture, and the impact of Divine on the drag scene and popular culture is still felt today.
